July Up-Date
We had a few runners last week with Pulp Fiction at Uttoxeter making his return to the track after 18 months on the sidelines. He ran well for a long way and just got tired between the last two hurdles probably having been a little keen and fresh early on after not running for such a long time. Hopefully he will improve for the run and there looks to be a suitable race for him at Worcester towards the end of the month. Kings Temptation ran at Worcester on Wednesday, having made a jumping error at the second fence the race probably wasn’t run to suit him, a slightly faster run race would have helped but he stayed on well to finsh 7th only beaten 9 lengths which would suggest they didn’t go much of a gallop. Templepark put up another good performance at Newton Abbot on Friday in a compeitive novices’ handicap chase under Max Kendrick, he very nearly capatalised on the winners mistake at the last and was only beaten a head in the end to finish 2nd. He continues to run well and he too will run again towards the end of July. Wisecracker improved from his seasonal return to finish 3rd at Market Rasen yesterday putting in a great display of jumping, he has plenty of ability but is a little frustrating and I am sure one of these races will come his way sometime soon.
Several horses have come back from their summer holidays and the winter jumps season will be upon us soon.
A busy couple of weeks spent at the sales in Ireland. Two of my foal purchases sold, the Shantou / Vindonissa sold to Kevin Ross Bloodstock for Imperial Racing and the Sholokohov / Lecon Benefique sold to my former boss Oliver Sherwood and we wish them both the very best of luck and we look forward to following their careers. We also managed to purchase a gorgeous filly called Gazette Bourgeoise who is currently being broken in.
It was Racing Stable Staff week last week and as ever a big thank you to our fantastic team who work so hard throughout the year - you are much appreciated.
