End to the 2019 / 20 Season
The 2019 / 20 Season came to a rather abrupt end but I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to our extremely loyal owners who continue to support us especially in these uncertain times and of course a big thank you to our incredibly hardworking team who continue to keep the show on the road. We will be ready to start again as soon as racing resumes.
As we look back on the season there have been many highlights;
Graceful Legend has now been sold and gone off to stud to be covered by Telescope. She has been a fantastic home bred mare with 7 wins to her name, having won or been placed on 22 occassions from her 29 runs which is pretty incredible. Her last big win being the Anne Duchess of Westminster Memorial Handicap Chase at Bangor under Kielan Woods. We look forward to watching her progeny progress.
Kilbrew Boy was another memorable winner when giving Charlie his first success under rules at Wincanton in the Amateur Riders Handicap Chase.
Coded Message gave the Wardington Hopefuls partnership a fantastic day at the races when winning the valuable Ladbrokes Mares’ Handicap Hurlde at Kempton under a great ride by Kielan Woods.
Wisecracker also finally managed to get his head in front to win at Hereford under a great ride from Bryony Frost after a lot of 2nds!
Croco Bay continued to be our stable star by heading back to the Cheltenham Festival for a fifth year, unfortunately he couldn’t quite manage another Festival win but he has come out of the race well and we will let him tell us when he is ready to go again!
We did enjoy some success at this year’s Cheltenham Festival having purchased Shishkin as a foal on behalf of Lady Jane Grosvenor who won the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. We currently have 6 three-year-olds being prepped for the sales that were also purchased as foals so lets hope there is another festival winner amongst them.
Midnighreflection turned out to be our last winner of the season giving members of the Case Racing Partnership and Anita Lush a fantastic day at Huntingdon when winning the mares’ handicap hurdle under a very cool ride from Jack Tudor.
Shanty Alley was the one that got away when looking to have the race at his mercy at Southwell with an 8 length lead when coming down, thankfully both horse and jockey are fine and he is a lovely prospect for next season, he will now have an early holiday.
Here’s hoping we can get back to the racecourse sooner rather than later and we can all get through this very difficult time. Best wishes and stay safe.
